## At a glance

Lexington Playcare Center (LPC) is a play-based, nonprofit (501(c)(3)) preschool and daycare in Lexington, MA, founded in 1984 and licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care. We serve children 15 months to 5 years across two programs: Toddler (8 children to 2–3 teachers) and Preschool (2 teachers per 10 children). Tuition is posted in full; we run year-round (with a 10-month September–June option), with two-, three-, or five-day weekly schedules and half-day, school-day, or full-day options. We're at 6 Meriam Street, Lexington, MA 02420, open Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM. Tours can be arranged any weekday morning, usually between 9:30 and 11:00 AM, and typically last about half an hour.

## Why families choose LPC

### Over 40 years of play-based learning

Since 1984, we've believed that children learn best through play. Our emergent, interest-led approach follows children's natural curiosity, giving them the freedom to explore, create, and discover. By leading their own learning, children develop confidence, problem-solving skills, creativity, and independence that last far beyond the preschool years.

### Teacher longevity

Our teachers don't just work here — they build careers here. Sandy was on our very first teaching team in 1984. Casey joined us in 1993, and Talia in 1999. This kind of longevity is rare in early childhood education, and it matters.

### A backyard built for exploring

Hobbit house. Apple trees. Trike path. Tunnels, movable logs, blueberry bushes. Room to dig, climb, hide, and wander, every day and in every season.

## Programs

### Toddlers (15 months – 2 years 9 months)

- Ratio: 8 children to 2–3 teachers
- Classrooms: 3

Classes run with two or three teachers for every eight children. That means more lap time, more one-on-one attention, and fewer handoffs when a child needs a grown-up they already know. Toddlers explore through sensory play, music, art, and outdoor discovery.

### Preschool (2 years 9 months – 5 years)

- Ratio: 2 teachers per 10 children
- Classrooms: 3

Classes run at 2:10 — two teachers for every ten children. Fewer transitions, more one-on-one time with teachers who know your child's name, quirks, and current obsession. Our emergent curriculum follows that knowledge: through projects, art, storytelling, and outdoor exploration, preschoolers build the habits they'll carry into kindergarten.
